where have we been?

i apologize for my sheer laziness in updating- i know the 3 people who look at this regularly are probably disappointed. sorry!

i'd post pictures from vacation, but everyone who was on vacation with us got a cd of pictures anyway.

also, why are puffy footie pajamas the cutest thing in the universe?

Oh yeah! 1 year stats.

For those of you interested in Eli's growth and all that exciting developmental stuff, he went in for a check-up today and here's the numbers:

Height: 28"
Weight: just 2 oz. shy of 27 pounds!
He's in the 93rd percentile for weight and head circumference (big noggin) and the 75th percentile for height.

He's now officially a walker, (a toddler! oh my!) and he prefers it over crawling now.

He can say 6 words so far! It just happened over the last week or two! They are, Mama & Dada (duh), Ball (his favorite), Backpack (weird, right?), Bubble, and Cheese. He can sort of say "book" and "block" but he's kind of working on those. His language skills are developing so fast! We were trying to teach him to say, "I love you, Grandma J!" in time for our trip (tomorrow!) but I'm pretty sure that one's going to have to wait. So far we just point to everything and name it over and over, hoping to get new words to stick and reinforcing the ones he already knows. It's awesome!

Anyway, we're heading down to Cali tomorrow for Poppa's 70th birthday celebration, so to any California relatives (hi, Laura!) we'll be seeing you soon!

farmer's market!

eli is starting to insist on walking, although he's not very good at it yet and he won't hold our hands for very long. here he is taking a stroll through the south park blocks:

spaghetti social

i will always be a sucker for a spaghetti-face.

(see? his tongue isn't that scary.)

next week we visit california! can't wait to see grandma & grandpa j!

inside the igloo, etc.

eli got a sweet igloo tent for his birthday. (thanks, ikea!)

everett has one just like it, so he feels right at home in eli's:

here we have eli looking under the armoire for... what? i don't know, exactly. maybe he's trying to find his missing shoe.

it only took me a year, but i finally got a picture that really illustrates the devilishness of my child- he has a forked tongue, people!

(okay. while it is technically 'heart-shaped,' meaning it has a slight fork in the end, it is nowhere near as dramatic as it appears in this photo- however, it's hilarious and he looks like a little lizard baby.)

is this his disapproving face? i can't tell.

photo avalanche

as usual, i took a million photos. here are some highlights from ELIJAH'S FIRST BIRTHDAY, WOO HOO!

we decided to ignore any health concerns about sugar or chocolate and went ahead and hooked him up with some delicious chocolate cake:

we were basically hoping for a photo op such as this one:

he got lots of rad presents:

wore a goofy hat for all of 2 seconds:

hung out in his rad new igloo:

and managed to crash out before 10 p.m.!

all in all, it was a busy day and i think eli had a lot of fun, except for one minor meltdown where he almost murdered everett for trying to touch one of his new toys. happy number one, homeboy!
