BIG DAY!!!! (potty talk)

i have been so lazy about taking/posting pictures of eli. he's so squirmy and fast these days, it's hard to keep him in my lens! but listen up! today was a really big day! ELIJAH RAY PEED ON THE TOILET TONIGHT! for the first time! we made him a sticker chart and let him pick out a sticker to put on the "pee" side of the chart and he was so pleased with himself. it was awesome. keeping my fingers crossed for some good potty training. i'm expecting it to be a long hard road, but woo hoooo!

doing his best riley impression

we spend a lot of time over at our friend summer's house, with her sons riley and london. riley is 3, a little less than a year and a half older than eli, and eli of course picks up all sorts of habits from riley. thanks to riley he now shares a love of spiderman and sponge bob (uuuugh) and hulk-smash fists. he also has managed to pick up ths ultimate grumpy riley face, haha! often when i point the camera at riley, he pulls a massive scowl and yells, "DON'T PICTURE ME ALICE!" and i can't help but crack up at him. i think it's pretty funny that eli can pull of the exact same expression. he looks just like riley to me here!

happy america day

you may recall that last year, elijah was a LITTLE freaked out by the fireworks:

well, lucky for us, no such problems occurred this year:

after getting coffee this morning, we stopped at the park to shoot hoops, and some neighborhood folks did some early morning fireworks. eli was pumped, and he kept yelling, "More!!! COOOOL!"

later on, it was more of the same. he said "COOL!" over and over. hilarious!

maybe next year, we'll get brave and let him try holding a sparkler. today he just stood next to jason while he swung his through the air.

the day's tally:

number of hot dogs consumed by eli (sans bun, fyi): 2.5 (he finished everett's, and would have kept going if we didn't stop him)
number of amazed toddlers: 2
number of alternately frustrated, hungry, elated, high strung, loud women: 3
number of relaxed, eye-rolling men: 2 (kaya had to work)
number of sparklers burnt: 4
number of goofy grocery store fireworks exploded: at least 20

okay jeez, i was just trying to copy Ed, but what can i say? i hate math. overall it was a good day. happy 4th of july.
