this morning's episode of sesame street featured a variety of robots, so eli was in a big robot mood at the park today. he insisted on bringing this weird plastic tote bag and wearing it on his head as a 'robot helmet.'
and here's the cool dude interlude:
jason came home from a 3 day business trip, bearing cupcakes. eli was pumped.
watching stuff about robots must have flipped some kind of science nerd switch in eli, because we spent a lot of the day talking about science-y stuff. he asked me a lot of questions about planets, which was really cool. i showed him a chart of the planets and told him all the names, and explained how they rotate around the sun. i don't know how much of it he's going to retain, but it's a good start, and he seemed really interested, which was awesome! we drew a big solar system in chalk on our parking lot tonight:
and then he wanted to ride a rocket ship to the moon:
then he asked me to draw a ladder so he could get out of the rocket ship:
uh, pretty cute.
then, as a grand finale for the evening, he used all his sugared-up energy to serenade us, using the safety handle of his tricycle as a standing microphone:
(he was singing "chicken soup with rice")
